Clinton Morris was first elected Mayor of Belvidere on April 6th, 2021. Mayor Morris was re-elected Mayor on April 1st, 2025. Clint has resided in Belvidere since 1970, attended Perry Elementary School, Belvidere Jr. High School and graduated from Belvidere High School in 1977, returning to school in 1996 and earning a bachelor’s degree in Business in 2002. Clint served as an Alderman for three terms beginning in 1993-1997 and most recently 2009-2017, serving with three previous mayoral administrations during his council tenure. Additionally, Clint served the community for over 24 years volunteering through the YMCA, Belvidere Park District and BYB with local youth sports and has also served on the Board of Directors at First Northern Credit Union for the past 25 years. Clint worked in the private sector retiring in 2017 after a 34-year career at ComEd. As an Independent candidate, Clint was re-elected Mayor to begin a second term and will be sworn into office on May 5th 2025.
Believing in giving more and taking less, Mayor Morris has refused to accept any health or pension benefits at taxpayer’s expense or any campaign contributions from anyone. Putting taxpayers interests first, Mayor Morris believes the City of Belvidere residents have benefited under his administration these past 4 years by successfully marketing Belvidere to company’s resulting in $billions of investments. The associated revenue, jobs and smart growth to our community is vital to diversifying our future workforce opportunity. Additionally, Mayor Morris believes these types of investments; General Mills, Walmart, Midwest Refrigerated Services, Speed Trek, Dairy Queen, O’Reilly’s, Starbucks, Chipotle, Hibachi Days and of course the re-opening of Stellantis all provide residential homeowners tax relief by helping pay for necessary services i.e.: public safety costs (police fire and ambulance) and infrastructure costs (roads, water, sewer, sidewalks). These business investments are critical, as they increase create both job opportunities and sales tax revenue. However, they most importantly ensure residents continue to enjoy Belvidere as a great, safe, affordable, quality of life community in which to reside and work.

CITY BRANCH PICK UP

SPRING 2025

BEWARE OF DOOR TO DOOR SOLICTATIONS

While door to door solicitation is legal, residents should be wary and keep the following in mind:
1) Any person engaging in sales or solicitation door to door must obtain a permit from the City. If anyone attempts to sell a product or service to you (e.g. a new electric supplier) without a permit you should ask them to leave and call the police on their non-emergency number 815-544-2135.
2) If you do not wish to receive any door to door salespersons, you can place a “No Trespassing” sign in a conspicuous location on your property. If anyone attempts sales, ignoring the sign, you should ask them to leave and call the police on their non-emergency number 815-544-2135. Further, you are not required to answer a door. If you do not recognize an individual at your door it is often best not to answer the door.
3) If anyone on your property makes you uncomfortable you should ask them to leave. If they do not immediately leave you should call the police. Do not confront them on your own.
4) You should NEVER share any personal information with any door to door solicitor until you have verified their authenticity and elected to purchase their goods or services. This includes, but is not limited to, copies of existing utility bills, bank account information and credit card information. The City of Belvidere does not partner with any commercial organization and never authorizes any door to door salesperson to demand or request personal information.
5) The City of Belvidere recommends that you refrain from making any agreement or signing any document with a door to door salesperson. If you are interested in their product or service, the City recommends that you simply ask for information and a phone number that you can call if you are interested.
6) Never invite a door to door sales person into your home.
