Leaf Collection
The City of Belvidere Public Works Department provides an annual city-wide leaf collection program each fall. The City is divided into two collection areas, north and south of the Kishwaukee River, with each area receiving two scheduled collections.
2026 Leaf Collection Schedule
- North Side of the River
Week of October 26
Week of November 9 - South Side of the River
Week of November 2
Week of November 16
Residents should have leaves properly placed for collection by 7:00 AM Monday of the week scheduled for their area.
Leaf Placement Guidelines
To help Public Works crews provide safe and efficient collection:
- Place leaves on the terrace at the curb, or along the edge of the pavement on streets without curbs.
- Leaf vacuum equipment can reach approximately 3 feet from the curb or edge of pavement, so all leaves must be placed within this area.
- Keep leaf piles accessible and clear of parked vehicles.
- Leaves only. Do not mix grass clippings, branches, twigs, or other materials into leaf piles.
- Do not park vehicles within 30 feet of leaf piles. If crews cannot safely access a pile, the leaves will be collected on the next scheduled collection date.
- Do not place leaves along alleys. Leaf collection is provided along City streets only.
