CPR and First Aid Training

The Belvidere Fire Department offers a variety of American Heart Association cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillator (AED), and first aid classes for lay rescuers through healthcare professionals teaching vital skills that can save lives in case of a cardiac emergency, enhancing community readiness to respond to emergencies. Certification is provided for individuals who complete the training.
Community CPR Training
We offer two types of CPR training for members of the community. Heartsaver CPR/AED training teaches layperson CPR & AED use. We will teach students how to perform CPR until emergency services arrive. The other option is Heartsaver CPR/AED training with additional First Aid Training. This option also teaches laypersons how to manage and respond to first aid, chocking, or cardiac arrest until emergency services arrive.

Heartsaver courses are designed for individuals without prior medical experience or training. For most applications, Heartsaver courses are the appropriate choice for the general public.
BLS courses are designed for healthcare professionals and related fields. These courses use medical terminology and assume that the students has basic medical knowledge. If this course is for employment purposes, be sure to check with your employer to determine which course is preferred.
