Administrative Assistant

 

The City of Belvidere is looking for a full-time Administrative Assistant in the City Clerk’s Office. The starting salary for this position is $39,500 plus the City of Belvidere provides a full complement of benefits including paid vacation, paid holidays, personal days and sick days.  Additional benefits included health and life insurance, participation in Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) and deferred compensation plan.

 

The successful candidate will report directly to the City Clerk and shall be able to handle a multi-task environment.  The daily assignment of work and priorities shall be set by the City Clerk and may vary daily dependent upon the type of work, priorities and times of year associated with the Department.

 

This position is the first point of contact for Belvidere City Hall and ensures that the general public is provided with prompt and accurate information to all inquiries, by furnishing facts pertaining to city code and services, directing inquires to proper departments for additional information, and providing general information, if needed. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Communicate exceptional public relations skills as part of daily conduct of duties both in person and over the phone.
  • Inputs daily cash/credit card deposits into cash collection software.
  • Processes monthly accounts payables/receivables.
  • Monthly reconciling multiple bank statements.
  • Review, issues and maintains data for all business licenses and liquor licenses.
  • Managing and updating calendars, setting up appointments.
  • Maintain website content.
  • Prepare weekly newsletter.
  • Assist City Attorney with court filings and agreements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Excellent Customer Service skills required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of office procedures, methods and equipment.

Water & Sewer Department Operator/Laborer

Applications will be received until 5:00 PM on Thursday, September 14, 2023 for a full time Water & Sewer Department Operator/Laborer.

Minimum Qualifications: High school graduate; Must have a Class “A” CDL or ability to attain within six months of hire; Must have extensive knowledge of methods, practices and techniques involved in the maintenance of municipal water distribution system and sanitary sewer collection system. Must have the ability to operate various machinery and equipment associated with water and sanitary sewer maintenance and operations. Must have the ability to read and understand various plans related to water and sanitary sewer maintenance and operations. Starting salary is $26.65 per hour.
