CPR and First Aid Training

The Belvidere Fire Department offers a variety of American Heart Association cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillator (AED), and first aid classes for lay rescuers through healthcare professionals teaching vital skills that can save lives in case of a cardiac emergency, and provide certification for individuals who complete the training, enhancing community readiness to respond to emergencies. You can also download the current CPR brochure for a mail-in registration form along with your payment in form of a check.

Heartsaver vs. BLS Courses – What’s the difference?
Heartsaver courses are designed for individuals without prior medical experience or training. For most applications, Heartsaver courses are the appropriate choice for the general public.
BLS courses are designed for healthcare professionals and related fields. These courses use medical terminology and assume that the students has basic medical knowledge. If this course is for employment purposes, be sure to check with your employer to determine which course is preferred.
