Clinton Morris was elected Mayor of Belvidere on April 6th, 2021. Clint has resided in Belvidere since 1970, attended Perry Elementary School, Belvidere Jr. High School and graduated from Belvidere High School in 1977, returning to school in 1996 and earning a bachelor’s degree in Business in 2002. Clint served as an Alderman for three terms beginning in 1993-1997 and most recently 2009-2017, serving with three different mayoral administrations during his council tenure. Additionally, Clint served the community for over 24 years volunteering through the YMCA, Belvidere Park District and BYB with local youth sports and has also served on the Board of Directors at First Northern Credit Union for the past 21 years. Clint worked in the private sector retiring in 2017 after a 34-year career at ComEd. As an Independent candidate, Clint was elected Mayor and sworn into office on May 3rd, 2021. Believing in giving more and taking less, Mayor Morris has refused to accept any health or pension benefits at tax payer’s expense or any campaign contributions from anyone. Putting taxpayers interest first, Mayor Morris believes the City of Belvidere is in a unique position to plan for smart growth, increasing job opportunities and sales tax revenue to ensure residents continue to enjoy Belvidere as a great community in which to reside.
