Police Pension Board
The Police Pension Board oversees the Police Pension Fund in accordance with Article 3 of the Illinois Pension Code (40 ICS5/3). In addition to managing retirement, disability, and survivor benefits for sworn members of the Belvidere Police Department, the Board is also responsible for overseeing and safeguarding the Fund’s investments to ensure long-term financial stability.
The Fund is overseen by a five-member Board, with each member serving a two-year term. Representation includes both the City leadership and members from the police department:
- Two members are appointed by the mayor
- One member is elected by pension beneficiaries
- Two members are elected by active police employees
